A man is alleged to have indecently exposed himself to a child near a play area in Mereworth.

The incident happened on Sunday at around 11.35am in Butchers Lane.

Later that same day, police arrested Martyn Palmer, 49, from the village.

He has been charged with engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

Palmer was remanded in custody by Maidstone magistrates on Monday to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on June 1.
