Pupils from a primary school in East Malling have been celebrating a 'remarkable' win as their efforts have been recognised at a national award ceremony.
Children from St James the Great Academy won a prize in a Health and Wellbeing Competition at the Festival of Remarkable Lives, a competition which recognises the achievements of schools across the UK.
Their winning entry was a short film named 'Our Remarkable World' where the children showed their life at school, while narrating a poem about healthy lifestyles.
Despite stiff competition, the school on Chapman Way beat 58 others across the UK, that's more than 32,000 students.
Principal Tamasin Springett said: “We are so proud of these pupils who have gone well beyond what could have been expected from them. Even though this has been such a challenging time, they have worked so hard to put together this film which shows off life at St James the Great Academy.
“It is so important that pupils are supported to live healthy lifestyles, both physically and emotionally, and their film really shows how pupils have responded to this. I am delighted for them!”
The festival, run by Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) recognises all aspects of what it means to be “remarkable” by celebrating the previous year’s achievements.
A special ceremony usually takes place in Northampton but this year, students were encouraged to take part virtually.
The event was hosted by CBBC presenters Sam and Mark, while MPs and ministers left messages of support.
Julian Drinkall, Chief Executive of AET, said: “The Festival of Remarkable Lives celebrates all aspects of what makes our students remarkable, and it is wonderful to see the variety of different performances and projects on show. Many congratulations to the pupils from St James the Great Academy for their win which is fair recognition of their great film.
“Our mission at AET is to inspire young people to go on and lead a remarkable life, and it is clear that this is happening at St James the Great Academy. Well done to all of these pupils on a fine achievement."
