World-famous Pete Tong will be swapping Ibiza for West Malling when he spins the decks at a charity summer party.
The Radio 1 presenter will join fellow Kent-born DJ Nic Fanciulli, as well as The Shapeshifters, on Sunday, September 30, for a fundraising event organised by The Swan, West Malling and The Social, a festival brand launched by Fanciulli.
The duo, who are seen as influential figures on the dance music scene, will be playing disco and house classics between 1pm and 8pm, in aid of three charities; Spadework, You Can and Teenage Cancer Trust.
Nick Levantis, co-owner of The Swan, in Swan Street, said: “The summer party is one of our favourite events, especially as it supports several local charities, so were delighted to be able to secure Pete Tong, as well as our good friend Nic Fanciulli, The Shapeshifters and several other DJs. We’ve already had a fantastic response from people buying tickets and look forward to seeing everyone having a great time on the day.”
Tong, who was born in Dartford in 1960 and went to school at King's School in Rochester, presents The Essential Selection on BBC Radio 1 and has played in clubs across the world. Similarly, Fanciulli was born in Maidstone and now attracts thousands of fans to his international shows.
The over 21s event will take place at The Orchard, in Broadwater Road, West Malling. Tickets are limited, with organisers wanting to give the day a “boutique” feel.
