Southern Rail services suspended between Redhill and Tonbridge after person hit by train

Rail services were suspended after a person was hit by a train.

The incident happened between the stations at Redhill and Tonbridge.

At 9.13am, Southern Rail posted an update on X.

“It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between Redhill and Tonbridge,” it said.

“All lines are blocked between these stations whilst the emergency services work to deal with this incident.

“Trains that run on the route between Redhill and Tonbridge have been suspended and this means the below stations, will not be served by Southern, until further notice.”

Nutfield, Godstone, Edenbridge, Penshurst, Leigh and Tonbridge were affected.

Rail replacement buses were brought in before the route reopened at about 3pm this afternoon.

Southern posted on X: “Services are returning to normal between Redhill and Tonbridge following this tragic incident.

British Transport Police and the ambulance service have been contacted for more information.
