Emma Fitness, from Larkfield, was travelling with her husband on Thursday (November 7) at 10pm when they were hit.

She said: “Luckily it was only a dent to the roof of our car but it could have been much worse.

“I was very shaken up as you hear horror stories of rocks going through windscreens and it ending up fatal.

“It’s sliced the roof with how sharp it was – I’m glad my husband was driving as I don’t know how I would have reacted.”

At the time she noted there were two other cars and a lorry that had pulled over on the hard shoulder nearby.

She then reported it to the police and posted a warning on a local Facebook group.

It said: “Just had a rock dropped on our car travelling on the M20 by two children on Lunsford Lane bridge. Cars also on the hard shoulder I assume were damaged.

“Please be careful when driving under the bridge. This could have gone very badly for all involved.”

Hayley, who did not wish to give her surname, also confirmed her car was struck while heading along the motorway.

She said: “We were hit on the roof of our BMW by a heavy object of some kind, thrown from the footbridge leading from Redwing Close to Thackeray Road.

“What could even possess somebody to think that was ok is beyond me. It is such an extremely dangerous thing to do.

“Thank God we are all ok, but it could have been a very different story.”

The couple haven’t had a quote for the repairs needed yet, but their insurance has a £500 excess.

“It has chipped right through to the metalwork,” she added. “It just makes me so angry that we have to fork out for anti-social behaviour.”

It comes after many motorists were the victims of a suspected catapult yob on the A2 near Darenth.
