It wasn't your average Tuesday morning in the office when a man was surprised at work with a brand new Jaguar F-Type he'd won in a competition.
Spencer Hill's head office colleagues at Arion Services in Wateringbury were in on the surprise when Best of the Best founder Will Hindmarch arrived to hand over the £60,000 car.
The 36-year-old sales executive said he was shaking as he went downstairs to try out the impressive motor.
“They did a bit of a trick on me, but it was a good one,” he said. “It was a shock but I recognised Will straight away. I’d only played for the Jag so I knew what was going to be outside - but I was still shaking!
“I like the F-Type a lot, but then I like cars in general. I’ve been really impressed with Best of the Best so they could have turned up with any car really and I’d have been chuffed to bits.
“I do love to change my cars regularly, but I’ve never had a Jag. I don’t drink or smoke and we’ve only got a modest house but there are other things more important to us and cars are the thing that we really love,” he added.
“My wife thinks we’re on a lucky streak now so she’s been out and bought a lottery ticket. Who knows, it could be a double win by the weekend.”
Mr Hindmarch said he was delighted to see Mr Hill's reaction.
“Surprising our winners is one of the best bits of the job and surprising them at work is always fun because their thoughts are focused on something else and it takes a while for the penny to drop,” he said.
“Spencer was obviously delighted and who wouldn’t be, what a fabulous car! You could tell he is someone who loves cars so it’s been the perfect win all round.”
Best of the Best is a weekly car competition, started in 1999, which can be played online, or from buying tickets at airports and some shopping centres. For details visit www.botb.com
