Delays after crash between car and lorry on M20 near West Malling

Drivers faced long delays on their morning commute after a motorway was shut due to a crash between a car and a lorry.

The M20 was blocked westbound between Junction 4 for West Malling and Junction 3 for the M26 from about 6.30am.

Police attended the scene where the car driver reported injuries.

He was taken to a local hospital for further medical attention and arrangements were made to recover his vehicle.

The injuries are not described as life-threatening.

All lanes have now reopened, but it took until 9.30am for residual delays to clear.

At one point, traffic backed up to Junction 6 of the A229 at Blue Bell Hill.

There were also delays on the A2 between Strood and the Ebbsfleet Turn-Off as a result of the crash.
