Smoke and flames have been spotted from a business park in Aylesford.

A member of the public said the fire could be seen from the Riverside Business Park in New Hythe Lane and appeared to be on the other side of the River Medway in Eccles.

They described "loads of smoke and ash falling down" later adding they were able to see flames.

Firefighters were called out at 11.45am but found the flames and smoke to be coming from controlled burning in Bull Lane, Eccles.

Crews did not need to intervene.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "The member of the public did the right thing by letting us know. We will always be happy to investigate if people think there is a fire."

The call was put down as a false alarm with good intent.
