A Snodland man has become the 100th person to be charged with drink driving over the festive period.
During the first four weeks of December, 149 people were arrested on suspicion of the offence.
David Griffin, from Hollow Lane, was arrested shortly after 6pm on Sunday after he was seen driving near his home by a PCSO.
Griffin, 49, was taken into custody and later charged with drink-driving as well as driving without third party insurance.
He will appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates Court on February 13.
In total 12 people were arrested between 3.20pm on Christmas Eve and 5.55am on Christmas morning.
Chief Inspector Tony Dyer from the Roads Policing Unit at Kent Police said: "The figure is down slightly on last year which is encouraging, as it shows people are getting the message around drink-driving.
"But of course we’ll continue to target those who disregard the law as well as their own safety.
"New Year’s Eve in particular is traditionally a busy night for drink-driving so my message to anyone making plans to go out and celebrate the start of 2015 is also to ensure you’ve also made plans to get home safely."
Also arrested last week was Oliver Bird, 18, from Heath Grove in Maidstone.
He was detained near his home at 12.30am on Saturday and later charged with drink-driving and failing to stop following a collision, which had happened in Beverley Road.
Bird was bailed to appear at Maidstone Magistrates Court on January 13.
