A tutu-wearing pervert hid in the woods and lifted his skirt to expose himself to two children as they walked home from school.
The girls spotted Daniel Wood in Tonbridge last June wearing shorts and a T-shirt but he carried on walking past them.
Moments later, he reappeared in front of the uniformed school girls but this time he was wearing the pink tutu which he lifted, exposing his genitals to them.
The scared teens made off, but as they looked back they saw perverted Wood skipping along after them. He exposed himself again as they continued to run away. They ran home and reported the matter to a parent.
Wood, who also used to dress up as the Grinch to surprise children on their school-run, was later charged over the matter and other incidents.
When he appeared in court he claimed he didn’t do it for his own sexual gratification but because he simply likes dressing in women’s clothes.
The court heard one of the girls was just 15 when the incident happened.
A month later, Wood exposed himself to another woman who spotted him in a street in the same town and again dressed in the tutu.
She was driving when she saw him leaning against a lampost. He then lifted up his tutu and exposed his genitals to her.
In March, he was spotted by another woman. This time he pushed his tutu up again and pulled his pink leotard to the side at his groin and revealed his penis.
The woman was so shocked she turned her vehicle around and drove past him again. He repeated the indecent act.
A clip of a mysterious man walking through the streets in Southborough at night in a pink tutu left residents scratching their heads.
At the time his identity was unknown, but it has now been confirmed that the clip shared on KentOnline at the time was Woods.
The incidents were reported to the police and the 32-year-old was arrested, bailed and handed a community protection notice not to expose his manhood in public and not to wear any transparent clothing.
However, on April 8, Wood dressed up again and was spotted by a man jumping out from bushes while wearing the pink attire in Tonbridge.
Wood ran off in another direction but did not show his private parts on this occasion.
Wood, of Baltic Road, Tonbridge, was arrested and charged with three counts of exposure and one count of failing to comply with a community protection notice.
He denied the allegations when he appeared in court in April and was remanded in custody until his trial on May 22 at Medway Magistrates' Court.
But when he appeared via video link from prison he changed his pleas to guilty on all four charges.
James Nichols, prosecuting, outlined the four seperate incidents to the magistrates and shared a victim impact statement from one of the teenagers.
He said: “She is now scared to leave the house and begged her mother not to send her to school.
“She has not been walking through the woods since as she is so scared.
“She has also seen him around town and when she does he looks at her and smirks.
“She said she was wearing school uniform so he knew she was under 16 and should not have seen what he exposed her to.”
Mr Nichols also said there was raised harm to the offences as Wood had followed the girls and pursued them. He also said Wood had planned to commit the act as after he saw them walking through the woods he changed into the tutu and skipped after them as they ran away.
The prosecutor said the offences crossed the custody threshold and reminded the bench their colleagues had previously remanded Wood in custody as they felt it was likely he would get a custodial sentence for the offences.
Magistrates also heard Wood had been in custody for six weeks, which was equivalent to a 12-week jail sentence and that the CPS would be applying for a new community protection order to prevent him from further offending, which would ban him from wearing any clothing that didn’t cover his genitals in public, unless he was at a naturist venue.
Helgaardt Strydom, defending, told the court it wasn’t a foregone conclusion that he would get a custodial sentence.
Mr Strydom added: “He came across the victims. This exposure was not of a sexual nature, there is no sex motivation or sex gratification. It’s about the clothing.
“The defendant has an infatuation with wearing clothing of this nature. In fact, when the police searched his property, there were three large wardrobes full of clothes.
“One was used for day-to-day clothes and two were full of a range of female clothing, tutus and leotards, etc.
“There was a large number of colourful and fluffy clothes, bright colours. It makes him feel good to wear them and he attends events where he dresses in this type of clothing.
“He has wigs, leggings, dresses and skirts. Yes, he was out in public wearing them, but he’s got an infatuation, he likes wearing these types of clothes.
“They are not designed for men to wear and he tells me that’s why he was exposed, he didn’t believe he was intentionally exposing (himself).
“He’s a mentally conflicted person. He has considered gender reassignment but with the state of the NHS and having no money he’s not done that.
“He also has mental problems. He quoted ADHD, Aspergers, autism and dyslexia at me and he should be given some credit for his guilty pleas. He’s been in prison long enough.”
‘They are not designed for men to wear and he tells me that’s why he was exposed..’.
Prosecutor Mr Nichols then rose to his feet again and told magistrates they might find it hard to accept there was no sexual motivation to the offences as it was very clear he had deliberately exposed himself to the victims, especially the first ones as the girls saw him wearing a top and shorts before he reappeared wearing the pink tutu.
Mr Nichols added: “It’s very clear he wanted those girls to see his genitals. The crown does not accept it was not sexual.”
A probation officer in court was also asked to assess Wood before he was sentenced, but the officer said Wood was not known to the service and she would like an adjournment to carry out a full risk assessment on him.
Wood could be seen on the video screen wearing a blue top, holding his head in his hand, as magistrates decided if he should be granted bail or not.
They decided to further remand him in custody until his sentencing hearing which will be held at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on the afternoon of June 11.
