Thousands of people were left without power last night.

An underground cable fault in Birling Road, Snodland meant 2,889 people were without power.

The fault happened shortly before 11pm.

UK Power Networks confirmed the majority of supplies were restored within five minutes.

Power was fully restored by 11.45pm.

A UK Power Networks spokeswoman said: "We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.

"This was caused by an underground cable fault which will be located and repaired."
