Three acres of grass and woodland was on fire near a East Malling school today.

Crews were called to an area of land behind St James the Great School in Chapman Way just after 1.30pm.

On arrival, crews discovered the fire covered around the size of two football pitches.

Residents nearby said smoke and ash from the fire was spreading to their gardens.

The fire was out by 2.45pm.
