Cricket clubs in Leybourne, West Malling, and Offham targeted in break-ins

Three cricket clubs have been targeted in a series of break-ins all on the same night.

Leybourne Cricket Club in Rectory Lane, Town Malling Cricket Club in Norman Road, and Offham Cricket Club in Church Road were all broken into sometime between Sunday, June 30 and Monday, July 1.

Police are investigating and looking at the possibility the three may be linked.

Officers issued an appeal for people to check any CCTV they may have.

Town Malling Cricket Club said they were “fortunate” to avoid any upheaval inside, unlike other venues.

The doors to the building were reportedly forced open and several padlocks were cut.

A spokesperson added: “Seems too much of a coincidence for them not to all be linked.”

Offham Cricket Club told KentOnline they had suffered a similar fate and that the thieves had damaged the building when trying to gain entry.

It also confirmed no cash was left overnight in the pavilion, apart from some spare coins totalling around £14.

Leybourne Cricket Club have not yet responded.

A spokesman for the force said: “Anyone with information, private CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage, who has not yet spoken to police, is encouraged to call 999, quoting reference 01-1033.”
