A thug hit and threw shoes at his pregnant girlfriend outside a hospital.
Christopher Eyres from Hadlow, near Tonbridge, was seen by concerned members of the public trying to attack his girlfriend outside Maidstone’s A&E department on October 30.
The police were called and officers questioned the woman at the scene, who confirmed Eyres had hit her on her arm which had made her drop her phone and that he’d also thrown a pair of shoes at her.
However, she also told officers she didn’t want to support any prosecution against her partner.
The 40-year-old later admitted the assault when he appeared before magistrates earlier this year.
Eyres returned to Medway Magistrates’ Court on September 6, to be sentenced.
Debbie Jones, prosecuting, said: “It was about 6am outside Maidstone Hospital’s A&E department and he was seen attempting to hit a female, and she was pregnant, he was arrested on suspicion of assault.
“She confirmed to officers he’d hit her on the arm and threw shoes at her and he has previous for assault and shoplifting.”
Defending himself, Eyres added: “I am still with her and she’s now had the child. We didn’t know she was pregnant then. I just want to spend time with her and my son.”
Magistrates placed Eyres on a 12-month community order which will see him carry out 40 hours of unpaid work and complete a nine-month drug rehabilitation requirement.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £114 and £85 costs.
