Songhurst Caravans in London Road, West Malling, has not only opened again after lockdown, but has done so with new management!
Husband and wife team, Tim and Caroline Watkins-Pitchford, have taken over the helm as a third generation to run this family business and are ready for what looks set to be another busy year for caravanning.
Mr Watkins-Pitchford said: "With the current situation and holidays abroad still questionable, more and more people seem to be discovering the delights of caravanning.
"We can sell our customers a fabulous 'home from home' for their travels and we also have a well stocked shop that is a treasure trove of accessories for any camping or caravanning holidays."
With business booming, Mr Watkins-Pitchford said his current problem was not finding customers, but acquiring caravans to sell.
He said: "They are very difficult so source at present. We would usually expect to have around 60 on our forecourt - at the moment we have three!"
Songhurst offers everything from gas to chairs, TV aerials, storage solutions and cooking equipment.
It also has a workshop to service and repair caravans.
The business was founded by Mr Watkins-Pitchford's maternal grandfather Gordon Songhurst in 1977. It was run by his uncle Richard Songhurst in the interim and now Mr Watkins-Pitchford has taken over, after five years supporting his uncle.
The new owners are introducing a number of innovations, including the sale of e-go bikes and scooters, and partnering with Van Hux South to sell converted VW Campervans.
The business, which employs seven staff, is open Monday to Friday, 9am till 5pm, Saturday, 9am to 4pm, and Sunday, 10am to 4pm.
