Travellers move onto Aylesford Newsprint paper mill site

Legal action has started to move caravans that have appeared at the former Aylesford Newsprint site.

Several vehicles were spotted at the site on New Hythe Business Park, Perimeter Road, Aylesford, at the beginning of the week.

KPMG LLP, the administrators that took over responsibility for the site when the company closed last year, have confirmed they are dealing with the matter.

A spokesman said: “The administrators are aware that travellers have moved on to a small section of the Aylesford Newsprint site and are in the process of issuing legal proceedings to have them removed.”

Earlier this year it was announced the old paper mill buildings would be demolished by summer 2017.

There are currently three options being considered for the site, one of which would keep it for industrial use while the other two would see differing amounts of houses built on it.
