A man in a white van reportedly jumped out of his vehicle and pulled on a young girl's sweatshirt in Snodland.
The teenager told officers she was grabbed as she walked along Bramley Road towards Malling Road at about 6.30pm last Friday.
A white transit van with two men inside pulled up next to the girl and the driver spoke to her, police said.
She carried on walking but one man jumped out and pulled her sweatshirt. The girl broke free and ran away.
The van then reversed towards her but drove off towards Birling Road, returning later to drive in the direction of Malling Road.
Police have now released a computer generated image of a man they would like to speak to.
The driver is described as white and in his late 20s with short straight hair and a beard, and the passenger is said to be late 20s.
The van is believed to have had a diagonal orange stripe on the back.
