A mother-of-three exposed her breasts to a man 10 times, pushed them against him and asked him for sex as well as reaching for his groin area and sexually assaulting him, a court heard.

Kelly McNamara, 39, grabbed the man's genitals over his trousers and exposed her breasts to him after punching a clinical support worker who was trying to help her at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital in Pembury in June 2021.

McNamara had gone to the hospital for a mental health assessment and to be treated for some injuries.

However, she was found to be intoxicated while there and started acting aggressively.

She set off fire alarms and punched the clinical support worker on the back causing him pain and then slammed a door shut which then hit him on the elbow.

She then turned her attention to another man and asked him if he wanted to have sex with her.

McNamara, a former 999 call centre worker who had aspirations of becoming a paramedic, then exposed her breasts to him at least 10 times and reached for his groin and touched his genitals over his clothes.

She also pushed her bottom into him and pushed her breasts against him.

McNamara, of Gorham Drive, Tonbridge, was charged with two offences and admitted assault by beating on an emergency worker and sexual assault on a male when she appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on September 8.

Sentencing was adjourned for a report to be prepared on her and she returned for sentencing on September 29. The court heard the sexual assault victim, who can't be named for legal reasons, had written an impact statement to the court after his ordeal.

In it he said he was embarrassed by what had happened and found McNamara's behaviour abhorrent. He said he was shocked and found what happened to him to be a form of abuse.

James Nichols, prosecuting, said: "She punched the worker in a hammer motion on his back and he suffered pain and she slammed a door shut which hit him on the elbow and then she set off fire alarms."

Mr Nichols also told District Judge Stephen Leake McNamara had asked the other man for sex and had reached for his groin over his clothing, which is when she sexually assaulted him.

Luke Meyer, defending, said: "She was at the hospital for a mental health assessment and had suffered injuries to her arm and does not remember a lot about the incident at all. She was deeply distressed and had drunk alcohol.

"She can't explain her behaviour. She does have an unstable personality disorder and is just embarrassed and remorseful. She had been asking for help. She's now been alcohol free for over a year."

Judge Leake said her behaviour drew considerable concern from the people who were at the hospital and that her mental conduct explained what happened on the day but didn't excuse it.

Judge Leake added: "I can see you are making great efforts in your life and you are embarrassed and remorseful and that this was entirely out of character."

He decided to place McNamara on a nine month community order which will see her carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and complete seven rehabilitation activity requirement sessions with probation officers.

She was also ordered to pay £100 compensation to the clinical support worker and £200 to the sexual assault victim and had to pay £85 costs, but will not be subject to notification requirements with the authorities under the Sexual Offences Act.
