A woman is being treated by paramedics after falling from a multi-storey car park in Maidstone.
Police were called out to King Street earlier today and closed the road to traffic and pedestrians while they dealt with the incident.
Police officers were diverting people from the pavement and asking them to walk on the other side of the road, which was closed between the traffic lights at Wat Tyler Way and Sittingbourne Road, and Church Street.
This happened after the upper levels of The Mall's multi-storey car park were sealed off this afternoon, and emergency services have been at the scene since 2pm.
Two fire engines, a fire vehicle, two ambulances and six police cars were also sent to the scene.
Estate agent Leanne Highsted saw the woman chain smoking on the car park roof before police said they could leave her office.
The 21-year-old said: "The alarm bells started ringing when someone in the office saw the woman on the roof at around 3pm.
"Someone ran into the shop next door and they told the security who called the police. Before we knew it police cars were outside and they taped off the front of the office.
"We got sent home at around 5pm because police said we and people being around her were making her nervous."
Arriva also announced a number of its bus services are set to experience delays due to the ongoing incident.
Police are also preventing pedestrians from walking up Church Street.
A spokesman for Arriva said: "As a result of an incident in the King Street area of Maidstone there is major disruption to all services anywhere near the town centre.
"Unfortunately we have no information how long this situation might continue for. Apologies, for any inconvenience however this situation is beyond our control."
The incident echoes a similar event at 7pm last night when police and paramedics responded to help a woman.
She came down safely and was placed into the care of health workers.
This evening a spokesman for Kent Police said: "Kent Police is assisting South East Coast Ambulance Service after an incident where a woman has fallen from a car park in Kent Street.
"The woman is currently being treated by ambulance crews."
