Thomas Merritt secured his first pole position on a successful opening weekend in the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship.
Merrit, 15, from Kings Hill, went on to finish second in both races at Snetterton, missing first by the smallest of margins.
The teenager, who is part of the Race Car Consultants team, is tipped as a championship contender this season.
He said: “I could not be happier to have come away from Snetterton with my first-ever pole position and two P2 podium finishes.
“It’s a really solid start to the season and there are lots of positives that I can take forward.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the entire team at Race Car Consultants, especially my mechanic Ollie, for providing me with a great car and to all my sponsors and partners for their continued support.
“I will now be focusing on my preparation, including sim training and fitness, ahead of the next round of the championship.”
It’s been confirmed that Merritt will remain part of the FF Corse GT Driver Academy in 2025.
He was selected to be part of the inaugural line-up last year and is delighted to have been selected to continue with the programme.
The academy has been set up to support young drivers on their motorsport journey.
Merritt will be given access to media training, fitness assessments, commercial insight, engineering guidance, and simulator training.
FF Corse will be evaluating each driver’s ability to take on board all the aspects required to develop as a modern GT driver.
The next round of the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship takes place at Mallory Park on May 17-18.
