Legendary garage artists DJ Luck and MC Neat will be headlining a fundraising show for a 29-year-old’s last chance at survival.

Leonie Botten, from Wainscott, near Strood, has been diagnosed with incurable cancer after originally being told a growth on her breast was nothing.

The estate agent was referred to Medway Maritime Hospital after discovering the lump in May 2022 but was told not to worry.

However, by December it had grown and she was told she had stage-4 triple-negative breast cancer.

Speaking previously, she said: “They told us it was curable and it was scary, but I just thought OK I am going to have a bit of a rubbish year with all the treatment.

“But then after the scans they realised it had spread and was incurable.

“If they noticed it in 2022 when it was a small lump it would not have got to my organs. It would have just been a case of a lumpectomy or chemotherapy.

“But once it spread they say there is not much they can do.”

In a statement sent to KentOnline last month, interim chief nursing officer, Sarah Vaux, at Medway NHS Foundation Trust, said: ‘’We are very sorry to hear about this case and have reached out to Ms Botton to discuss any concerns about her care.’’

Leonie is on her third round of chemotherapy, however, has been raising money for specialist treatment in North America, the first of which costs £49,000.

She has since hit the target and flew out last week (January 25) to start the first round of care but anticipates she will need multiple sessions due to the aggressiveness of the cancer.

Her friends and family have since set up multiple fundraising activities and a GoFundMe page which, at the time of writing, had raised more than £88,000.

Next weekend, garage artists DJ Luck and MC Neat, best known for hits A Little Bit of Luck and Masterblaster 2000, will be headlining a charity show.

The duo will be performing at The Barnyard, in Upchurch, on Saturday, February 10.

From 4pm to 7pm, there will be children’s entertainment including a magician, and alongside the DJs, performances from comedian Benjamin Lovell and vintage solo artist Peggy Rose.

Friends have also organised a charity football match at Sheppey United Football Club through Sellebrity Soccer on Sunday, February 18.

Stars such as The Only Way is Essex’s Dan Osborne, EastEnders actor Jake Wood and Love Island’s Zac Ashford and Josh Brocklebank will be going head to head.
