Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene of a potentially serious crash in Chatham.

Witnesses say a van and a car collided and smashed into railings on the A2 New Road - leaving the van facing the wrong way.

It happened at around 6.50pm near the Luton Arches Dental Clinic and the road was closed in both directions between Union Street and Magpie Hall Road for more than three and a half hours.

Police confirmed the crash involved "multiple vehicles" but no other details were available.

The road reopened at around 10.40pm.
