A vehicle which caught on fire on Blue Bell Hill caused the Chatham-bound carriageway to close.

Firefighters were called to the A229 after receiving reports of a flat bed truck on fire at 3.10pm today.

Police closed the carriageway while the blaze was tackled by two fire crews and the vehicle recovered.

Two lanes have now reopened but a third lane remains shut.

No one was injured in the fire.
