Traffic backed up onto the M2 this morning after a crash blocked the slip road to the Medway Services.

A Chrysler Estate and Ford KA collided at the coastbound service station between junction 4 (Gillingham) and 5 (Sittingbourne) at about 7.20am.

Ambulance, police and fire crews attended and at least one of the two drivers was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A police spokesman said: "It appears one driver while exiting the service station hit a parked car. The occupants of both vehicles were treated in an ambulance."

The services is a popular shortcut to and from the motorway for people who live and work in Rainham and Parkwood.

Traffic backed up onto the M2 until the accident was cleared a short while later.
