She is now appearing in a national campaign for the charity Alzheimer's Society which encourages people to leave a gift in their will to the charity.
"I am very proactive with my dad about being positive role models for people who are living with dementia, whether diagnosed or family or friends," she said.
"It is in this vein that we were shortlisted by Alzheimer's Society to tell our story in the advert. We have benefited greatly from the services and information from AS and I will be leaving money in my will to the charity."
The support that the charity has given Denise and her father prompted Allen to write a £300 cheque to the charity.
Denise is currently writing a TV series about dementia.
Ms Wilton is also a member of Medway Dementia Action Alliance, said she was privileged to be asked to appear in the advert, which will appear throughout January on Channel 5, More4 and ITV3.
"These things really boost my dad, and they stick in his mind.
"Many people follow our story. And I know it will get sadder as we go along. But there should always be hope!"
