A drug addict has been jailed after being found with a quantity of crack cocaine and heroin on him as he walked along a road in Medway.
Wayne Wallis, 35, was seen by officers acting suspiciously as he walked along Saunders Street, in Gillingham.
He was stopped but insisted to police he was not carrying any drugs, but when searched, was found to have eight wraps of crack cocaine and heroin on him.
More drugs were found by officers when they searched an house in the road where he had been staying.
This included another eight wraps of crack cocaine and almost two grams of heroin.
A shoe box was also found at the address which contained cannabis.
Wallace later admitted to police he was a regular drug user and following a trial at Maidstone Crown Court was convicted of possessing crack cocaine and heroin and was jailed for 15 months.
He had faced possession with intent to supply the Class A drugs, but was found not guilty by the jury.
Wallace, formerly of Oak Road, Gravesend, was sentenced following an investigation linked to Operation Jupiter, a team created by Kent Police to tackle emerging criminal gangs.
DC Stuart Clayton, who led the investigation into Wallis, said: “This sentence is another clear indication of just how effective our officers are in identifying offenders who bring drugs into our communities.
“Though Operation Jupiter we are continuing to disrupt organised criminal networks in areas including Dartford, Gravesham, Medway and Swale and I’d like to reassure residents that we will continue to deal robustly with anyone involved in both the use and supply of drugs.”
