Man taken to hospital after crash on A228 Peninsula Way, between Main Road and Bells Lane, Hoo

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was taken to a London hospital after a crash in Hoo.

Officers and firefighters were called to the A228 Peninsula Way, between the roundabouts for Main Road and Bells Lane, at around 8.40pm on Saturday night, after reports of a crash.

It was reported that a grey Honda Civic had left the carriageway and gone through hedges before flipping over and landing on its roof, in a field.

The crash was spotted by another motorist who called the emergency services, but the driver had freed himself before firefighters arrived.

The air ambulance was scrambled but the man was taken to a London hospital by road with multiple injuries.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “He was lucky he was seen by another driver as where the car ended up was out of the view of the road and the driver could have been there for some time.”

The driver, a man in his 20s from the Rochester area, was taken to a London hospital with injuries to his head and back.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kent Police on 01634 792209 quoting reference 10-1324.
