An air ambulance was called to a town centre and a pedestrian rushed to hospital after being hit by a minibus.
The emergency helicopter was joined by police and paramedics at the scene in Waterfront Way, Chatham, at about 3.35pm yesterday (Monday).
A member of the public was taken to a major trauma centre for a head injury, which isn’t believed to be life-threatening.
A spokesman for KSS Air Ambulance told KentOnline the man was taken to a London hospital by road.
They said: “Crews then transported the patient to a major trauma centre by road with our crew accompanying them in the ambulance to continue delivering their care en route.”
One man who was at the scene explained: “The police had cordoned off Waterfront Way, and there were two buses at the bus station end and a minibus marked in Norse livery parked near the crossing for the High Street.
“There was a considerable police presence, and the defibrillator from outside the Halifax in the High Street had obviously been accessed and used at the location.
“The alarm was going off to indicate the point of use. From what I saw, there was an unmarked car and three marked cars.
“We also saw a paramedic fast response vehicle parked in the Riverside car park near the library.
A police spokesman added: “Kent Police was called to a collision involving a minibus and a pedestrian in Waterfront Way, Chatham.
“Officers and paramedics attended the scene where the pedestrian was treated for a head injury.
“He was taken to a London hospital for further medical attention.”
