Person taken to hospital after air fryer sparks kitchen fire in Kimberley Road, Gillingham

A person was taken to hospital after an air fryer sparked a fire in a kitchen.

The person sustained slight burns to their arm and had also inhaled smoke.

They were passed into the care of paramedics and taken to hospital.

The blaze happened yesterday shortly after 3pm and crews, who were joined by one of the fire service's volunteer response teams, extinguished the flames by 3.58pm.

It’s believed the fire started accidentally when an air fryer caught alight but the exact reason is unknown.

Fire services alerted anyone when using any electrical item to always make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions, keep them in good working order and purchase from a reputable supplier.
