More than 25 jobs have been created at a new American restaurant which has just opened at Pier 5 in The Quays in Chatham Maritime.
After a protracted build period the brand new Hancock’s American Restaurant & Bar is now open near the Dockside Outlet Centre.
It officers a wide range of American food and is the being run by a family from Sittingbourne, David, Lesley and Lindsay Chick.
The restaurant has taken modern restaurants in Las Vegas for inspiration, will serve ribs, steaks, chicken, pizzas, burgers and hot dogs.
Mr Chick said: “We really wanted to keep clear of the dark and gloomy settings that traditionally seem to be found in most American restaurants.
“We’ve gone totally the other way - by combining an open plan layout, a central bar and bright yellow leather seating we’ve created a look you won’t easily find anywhere else.”
Other unusual features at the £500,000 restaurant include a button on the table which customers can push to request service or their bill.
Music lovers can also request tracks to put on while they are dining using the bar’s own app.
Mr Chick added: “‘We’ve found that the virtual juke box has been a huge hit - we’ve had people staying hours because they’ve requested tracks that are queued up to play. It’s certainly led to some very interesting music combinations.
