A 17th century high street hotel has been put on the market for almost £2 million.

The 15-bedroom Gordon House Hotel in Rochester is found along the historic street next to the castle and any sale would include a neighbouring fish and chip shop.

Available for £1.9 million, the Grade II-listed building also has a restaurant, 25 parking spaces and restaurant.

The four-storey site also has the potential to extend parking and add further rooms subject to planning permission.

The hotel has a restaurant, bar and reception which can be accessed from High Street, as well as “attractive feature glass panel, high ceilings, original archway, down-lighters, quality hardwood flooring”.

In total, 10 of the bedrooms are located at the front of the building, as well as staff accommodation above the fish and chip shop.

The hotel hit headlines in 2008 when plans to host parties until 1.30am angered residents.

The owners had applied to Medway Council to change their existing licence so they can play music at late-night parties in a marquee four times a year, as well as at outdoor events for the Sweeps and Dickens festivals.

But the application left people living at the nearby sheltered home annoyed.
