There's is something magical happening behind the doors of The Brook Theatre.

Step inside Chatham's old town hall this Christmas and you will be transported into a world of fairies, spells, and enchanted woods.

Little Fox's Christmas Garden is at the Brook Theatre Picture: Elkin Consulting

Little Fox's Christmas Garden is about a young fox who goes on an adventure to The Wild Place where a terrible spell has put an end to Christmas. There is no snow and no presents for anyone.

Little Fox, with the help of her new friend Mole, must find out how to stop the Evil Queen or Christmas may be stopped forever.

But the young audience don't just get to watch the story unfold, they get to be part of it - they can join in with the dances and even help make it snow.

They become Fox’s friends and help her find the key to the golden gate. Then they journey with her to The Wild Place where they meet a talking tree. Each child must choose a special leaf to help make their wishes come true and take it with them to face the Evil Queen.

The 50-minute play is told in different parts of the theatre, each with its own magical set. There is no seating (little ones sit on the floor - grown-ups can too) and the audience moves around to each scene with the actors, so little ones never have to sit still for very long.

It it also perfect for preschoolers because there isn't a traditional 'baddie' like in panto. The Evil Queen is actually a beautiful ballet dancing fairy with a broken heart.

But of course there is a happy end to this heart-warming tale. This is a story about saving Christmas and also about friendship.

The play, presented by Play on Words, Icon Theatre and Loop Dance Company, is aimed at children aged three to six and designed to be the perfect introduction to the theatre.

Little Fox's Christmas Garden is at The Brook Theatre until Christmas Eve.

Prices start from £8 for adults, £7.50 for children. To book click here or call 01634 338338.
