A primary school has received another glowing review from the education watchdog after inspectors declared pupils are “truly cared for and nurtured” at the academy.
Ofsted visited Hoo St Werburgh Primary and The Marlborough in Pottery Road, near Rochester, on March 5.
Inspectors rated the school as “Good” for the second time running following its previous review in September 2018.
It was given the grade in the areas of quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, plus leadership and management and early years’ provision.
The school, which caters for 573 pupils aged two to 11, also received an “Outstanding” rating for personal development.
Inspectors noted: “Pupils are truly cared for and nurtured at Hoo St Werburgh and The Marlborough.
“Across the school, relationships between adults and pupils are warm and respectful, [and] staff have high expectations of how pupils should behave.
“The school provides extremely strong welfare and pastoral support steered by the school’s values.
“Leaders are highly ambitious for all pupils, staff and the community that they serve.
“Pupils’ personal development is exceptional.”
The school is one of five academies part of the Rivermead Inclusive Trust.
Of its 573 pupils, 84 comprise its specially-resourced provision called The Marlborough.
All children in The Marlborough have an Education, Health and Care Plan with a diagnosis of autism.
Following the report, bosses at the academy, including head Simon McLean, said: “We are so proud to be part of the team which has been recognised for the ambition we have for our children, the high standard of the teaching and learning we provide, as well as the outstanding level of nurture support given to our children.”
Meanwhile, Rivermead’s chief executive, Tina Lovey, added: “Hoo St Werburgh Primary School and the Marlborough truly embrace the values and ethos of the school and Trust.
“Across the school, relationships between adults and children are warm and respectful.
“This is testament to the strong leadership and management, as well as the drive for excellence from all teaching and support staff.
“Thank you to our wonderful school and provision which serves our children and families so exceptionally well.”
