Airport delegation in London

A delegation of Medway Council's political leaders is hoping the Mayor of London will today eat humble pie over his plans to build London's next airport of the Hoo Peninsula.

Armed with pictures of a winged pie in the sky above the environmentally-sensitive Cliffe Pools, they hope to convince him his £40 billion floating airport in the Thames Estuary shoulds be scrapped.

The airport has been conceived by Mr Johnson as a way of relieving pressure on Heathrow and Gatwick.

The politicians, led by Cllr Rodney Chambers (Con), included the leaders of Labour (Cllr Paul Godwin), Liberal Democrats (Cllr Maureen Ruparel) and Cllr Tony Goulden from the Independent group.
