Accident in New Road, Chatham, left police officer and two others injured

Witnesses to a car crash involving a police vehicle are being asked to come forward.

The accident happened at 10.45am on Tuesday in Chatham at the New Road and Union Street junction.

The police car – a Ford Focus estate – was in collision with a black Toyota Aygo.

Beforehand, the police car had been travelling along Union Street, towards New Road, while the Toyota had been moving along New Road, towards Chatham Hill.

Three people, including a police officer, were taken to hospital for precautionary checks.

No serious injuries were suffered and they were all discharged on the same day.

As is standard procedure for collisions where a police car is involved, the circumstances are being reviewed.

Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was travelling in the area and recorded the incident, or either of the vehicles involved travelling in the area, on their dash cameras or privately-held CCTV.
