Armed police in Lordswood after man hurt following sound of gunshot

Police are hunting a gunman after a man was shot on the doorstep of a house last night.

The injured man, who has not been named, was rushed to hospital after he was injured at the home in Lordswood.

Armed officers raced to the scene at 9pm following reports a gunshot was heard in the street.

Neighbours were told by police to stay inside their homes and lock the doors.

One said: “We had a police officer over to ask us questions and they said they were going to be in the area all night and Saturday."

Paramedics were also called and the man was taken to hospital suffering leg injuries.

Officers carrying guns also carried out a search of the area and were still at the scene well into the night.

The home was still cordoned off with police tape this morning.

No one has been arrested in relation to the incident and police inquiries continue.
