Armed police raid house in Marlborough Road, Gillingham after reports of assault

Armed police stormed a house after being called to reports a man was being assaulted inside.

Officers raided the property in Marlborough Road, Gillingham after police were told a suspect could have been in possession of a weapon.

Police were called at 7.33pm yesterday and an informant said they believed a suspect was armed.

The armed response team attended the house and located a victim who had suffered minor injuries.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and taken into custody and has been released without charge.

A police spokesman said an investigation is now taking place by police to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

An eyewitness said the road was sealed off and closed during the incident with residents escorted to their homes through the cordon.
