Air ambulance called to Chatham High Street after person 'falls from height'

A person has been arrested after a man "fell from height" in the town centre.

The air ambulance was called to the Chatham High Street along with police, paramedics and the fire service at around 8.20pm last night.

Two people were treated for injuries after the fall, including one man who suffered a non life-threatening head injury.

The emergency chopper landed in a nearby park while they were assessed and taken to hospital by road.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "I can confirm we were called at approximately 8.20pm yesterday to High Street, Chatham to reports of a fall from height.

"Ambulance crews attended and were joined at the scene by the Kent, Surrey, Sussex Air Ambulance Service.

"Two patients were assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to hospital."

The fire service, who left the scene after an hour, added: "We were called at 8.55pm on last night to assist SECAmb in High Street, Chatham. One fire engine attended."

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at around 8.05pm to a report of an assault in Chatham High Street.

"Officers attended the scene where a man was treated for a head injury before being taken to a local hospital for further medical attention.

"A suspect was arrested in connection with the incident and was also taken to hospital for medical attention. Inquiries into the circumstances are underway."
