Arrest after police officer reportedly assaulted in Shanklin Close, Princes Park

A police officer was reportedly kicked in the head when he was called to reports of an assault in Princes Park.

Crews were called to Shanklin Close just after 4pm on Sunday following reports a man had been assaulted by another man.

While at the scene an officer suffered minor injuries to his arms and head after he was allegedly attacked and kicked.

A 44-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

He has been released pending further inquiries.
