A grandmother aged 61 and her toyboy fiance from Gillingham who live off benefits are due to feature on a shock television documentary - Can’t Work, Won’t Work”.
Sandra Gallagher, a 61-year-old mum of seven and Richard Broom, 34, who live in Speedwell Close, on The Vineries estate, star in the Channel 5 programme with Richard’s mother Ina.
Richard is claiming unemployment benefit as he pursues his dream of becoming an actor modelled on EastEnders tough guy, Danny Dyer.
Richard has not worked for two years and Sandra says that she cannot hold down a job because of her health.
To make matters worse, they have now had their benefits temporarily suspended and are on emergency measures.
They claim that they have been forced to move in with Richard's mum to try to make ends meet, and there are even more problems ahead with the threat of eviction now hanging over them.
Despite their money worries, Sandra, grandma to 17 with two more on the way, has indicated she wants to become the oldest grandmother to conceive in the country.
Sandra told The Sun newspaper that her love-life with Richard had improved after having intimate surgery - costing £2,500 on the NHS.
Meanwhile, the couple are busy planning their forthcoming nuptials.
Can't Work, Won't Work airs tonight at 8pm on Channel 5.
