Boy falls from Hoath Way bridge in Gillingham on to dual carriageway

A boy is recovering in hospital after falling from a bridge on to a dual carriageway.

Ambulances were called to Hoath Way in Gillingham on Saturday evening after the incident involving the youngster.

The teenager suffered the injuries after plunging from the Fairview Avenue bridge in what has been described as an accidental fall.

Police were called at 7.55pm after the boy was found on the busy road below and closed the roads to help medical teams treat him. He is believed to be aged about 14.

An air ambulance helicopter landed in the nearby Kings Frith Park in Wigmore.

Roads were closed in the area while police, paramedics and crews from the air ambulance gave him treatment.

The casualty was taken by road to King's College Hospital in London, ambulance spokesman Rich Airey said.

He remains in a serious but stable condition.
