Boy flown to hospital after being hit by car at pedestrian crossing in Gillingham

A boy has been flown to hospital by air ambulance after being hit by a car in Gillingham.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident, which happened at about 8pm last night on the pedestrian crossing in Woodlands Road near the junction with Cornwallis Avenue, and involved a silver Seat Leon car.
The injured boy remains in a serious condition in a London hospital.
A 40-year-old man from Chatham was arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody, and an investigation is being conducted by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU).
Investigators would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, and anyone who has private CCTV or dash cam footage taken in the area at the time of the collision is also urged to come forward.
