Emergency services called to Rochester Bridge in search for missing man

Emergency services are searching for a missing man near a bridge.

A HM Coastguard helicopter has been seen flying over Rochester and two ambulances and other response units were spotted heading into town this morning.

Rochester Bridge is currently closed, with pedestrians being turned around.

A spokesman for the coastguard confirmed crews are dealing with an incident in the area after being called out at about 11am.

Rescue teams from Sheppey and Medway, an inshore lifeboat from Sheerness and the coastguard helicopter from Lydd have been sent to the scene.

Police officers and crews from the fire service are also in attendance.

The force confirmed the response is in connection with a search to find a missing man.
