Traffic was stopped on the M2 due to a "distressed woman" on the coastbound carriageway.

The Medway Bridge was shut coastbound between J1 for the A2 Strood and J2 for A228 Sundridge Hill from around 6pm yesterday.

Officers spoke to the woman before she was passed into the care of medical staff.

The road later reopened, with delays in the surrounding area until around 9pm.

It came after a diesel spill caused 12-mile queues on the M25, creating traffic jams across Dartford.
