Another application for housing on the Hoo Peninsula has been submitted.

View Road in Cliffe Woods could see a further 25 houses after a new application was made.

The plans were validated by Medway Council on February 7 and will be considered by officers, as well as open to objections from the public.

The plot is 1.24 hectares of agricultural land and previously had permission for 50 retirement homes, but several reserved matters applications, which gave greater detail about how the site would be laid out, were rejected.

Now, Esquire Developments have submitted an application for 25 two and three-bed bungalows and houses.

Esquire were granted permission on an adjacent site in January 2023 for 68 homes, also on View Road.

The developer have several open and granted applications across the Hoo Peninsula, including an application on Stoke Road by the Ropers Lane roundabout where they hope to build 134 homes, if approved.

In the application, Esquire says they have considered the characteristics of the local area and adapted their designs to match and have also been conscious of the nearby Chattenden Woods site of special scientific interest (SSSI).

If approved, Esquire say the properties planned for the development will have electric vehicle charging stations, air source heat pumps, and fibre optic broadband.

The proposals are open for consideration by the public and the council has set a target date of May 8 to make a decision.

One letter of objection has been received so far from a Chatham resident who raised concerns about the drainage of the area, saying the development would increase the risk of surface water flooding.

She also said the access road which joins onto the corner in View Road was unsafe as the turn was too tight and had limited visibility.
