Diners will sit on church pews and select their food from hymn board menus at a new restaurant opening in Medway.
Thirty new jobs will be created when The Burger Priest opens at Pier 5 at Chatham Maritime, next door to Creams Cafe, on Saturday, December 10.
It will be only the second branch of the premium burger restaurant in the UK and will create work for general managers, chefs, kitchen assistants, waiting staff and cleaners.
Designed with a church theme, even the toilet booths are confession boxes. As well as a restaurant it will also provide a takeaway service.
Parveen Mann, 42, who runs Creams, is opening the franchise. She said: “It is such an exciting venture. I think it is a great concept and I am very excited to be opening the second one of its kind.
“We will be offering premium burgers handmade, using the highest quality Aberdeen Angus beef.
“Our surf and turf burger will contain pieces of lobster and we’ll also be selling pure vegan burgers.
“We want our burger experience to be simply the best and are confident it will be a great success. We want the people of Chatham to say, ‘Hallelujah, at last a diner which serves top quality fresh burgers’.”
The burgers will be made fresh on site and served on a gluten-free brioche bun with fresh salad and hand cut chips.
The company say the burgers will have no preservatives, will be hormone and steroid free, gluten free and fully traceable.
They will also serve milkshakes made with organic ice-cream as well as a number of craft beers and organic wines.
The Burger Priest’s other branch in Wolverhampton opened in May.
