Work to clear a landslip at Newington has been hindered by heavy rainfall, causing disruption to rail services for the rest of the day.
Urgent repairs are being carried out at Newington following movement of an embankment close to the railway on Tuesday.
Southeastern had warned that the line between Sittingbourne and Gillingham was not expected to reopen before 9am today.
However, in a tweet two hours ago, the company said "Work on the site has been hindered by heavy rainfall over the last few days and the line will remain closed for the rest of the day."
A bus replacement service will continue to run between Faversham and Gillingham.
Cannon Steet- Margate/ Dover Priory services this afternoon have also been cancelled due to the repair work.
