Amateur photographer Phil Crane, who took these photos, said: "I was just driving home with my family and there was a bit of traffic. As we passed it that's what we saw - it's quite incredible really. I'm glad everyone was okay."

The crash happened on Good Friday just before 1.20pm. Details were released today.

Police and ambulance crews attended and the Kent Air Ambulance was called, but stood down on route.

A police spokesman said: "A car was in collision with a wall of a property on the road. A small amount of damage was caused to the house."

The light blue Peugeot was left at a steep angle pointing down into a basement.

Residents looked on as rescue crews used heavy equipment to pull the car out.

The car was eventually recovered just before 5.10pm, when the road was re-opened.
