A lamppost has been knocked down after a car ploughed into it this morning.

Police officers were called to Commissioner’s Road, Strood, near the entrance to the Medway City Estate, just after 9am.

Police were called after a car crashed into a lamppost

The road was closed off and witnesses said they saw three police cars turning people around in nearby Banks Road.

Pictures show the lamppost knocked over and blocking the road while a police car and ambulance are parked up behind.

Paramedics assessed and treated the person before they were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.

The road has since been re-opened.
