A suspected car thief who led police on a 25 minute chase through four towns has been arrested.
Officers spotted the suspect drive through two red lights in Dock Road Chatham in the early hours of Friday morning.
They signaled to the man to pull over but he failed to do so.
Instead, he led them on a chase for around 25 minutes through Maidstone, Tonbridge, and finally, Tunbridge Wells – of which the shortest route from start to finish is around 25 miles, according to Google Maps.
His vehicle was eventually forced to a stop after a stinger was deployed in Lamberhurst High Street.
According to Google Maps, the shortest route from the start to the stop point of the chase is around 25 miles.
The driver, a 30-year-old man from east Sussex, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop when directed to do so, driving while under the influence of drink or drugs and driving without a licence.
A passenger in the car was also arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
The driver has since been released on bail until April 18 while police investigate further. The passenger will not face any further action.
